Abstract:
Since those buildings disassemble the orthogonality of structural frames and have unavoidable complexity in their plans, it is not possible to design those structures by existing design methods. Consequently, unlike existing regular buildings, the complex-shaped tall building requires 3D digital design tools and a cooperation between architects and engineers. The purpose of this study is to suggest an integrated design process which can unify related technologies to remove the risk in complex-shaped tall building design and optimize the structural system. In this study, the trend of the complex-shaped tall building, structural system optimization technologies, data exchange, and overseas advanced integrated design system were examined. In addition, throughout the research results and two workshop experience, the application schemes for each design stages and structural system optimization process are proposed for the most efficient and integrated complex-shaped tall buildings.
